KPDZ系列是低压轨道供运梁平车，是将交流380V的电源通过变压器降压至交流36V两相，分别接至两根轨道上，轨道平车上的车轮将轨道上的交流36V电源引入车载电气箱，经过整流模块将交流36V整流至直流36V，再经过直流控制系统控制直流电机，使平车启动，停止，前进，后退，调速等。
该系列平车能够在S型轨道弧形轨道及高温场合使用：平车上可以加装液压升降系统；平车直流电机有启动平稳，启动力矩大，对减速机冲击小，电压低，使用寿命长等优点。
具有安全性和机动灵活性：对轨道铺设要求高（需要绝缘处理轨道），适用于载重量不大（小于等于50吨）使用频率较高，中长距离运输场合。不受距离的限制，但运行距离超过70米，需要增加变压器。
